I am a journalist who for the past 30 years has specialized in writing about agriculture, the environment and natural history—blending the three as much as possible.
I’ve written for, among other publications and web outlets, the Land Stewardship Letter, Minnesota Conservation Volunteer, the Winona Daily News, the Star Tribune, Sierra, Wapsipinicon Almanac, Conservation in Practice, Loon Commons and the Utne Reader Environmental Blog. I have also contributed chapters to various books and publications, including The Farm as Natural Habitat: Reconnecting Food Systems with Ecosystems (Island Press, 2002).
In October 2018, the University of Wisconsin Press published my book, Wildly Successful Farming: Sustainability and the New Agricultural Land Ethic.
